BURGLARY CHARGE
FINGER PRINT EVIDENCE ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 19. Fingerprints found on a piece of leadlight figured largely in the police case against Albert William Gauntlett, aged 25, a labourer, who was charged to-day that on or about August 23 he broke and entered the Self-help Store at Lmwood and committed theft. He pleaded nob guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial, bail being refused m the meantime. .. . ' . . ... An officer of the criminal registration branch, Wellington, gave evidence that the fingerprints on the glass were identical with those of the accused forwarded to him from Paparua. The police j stated that the accused, when informed that the fingerprints corresponded, declared that it was a mistake; that he had never been near the Linwood store.
