ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA, SIR CHARLES KINGSFORD SMITH. CAIRO, September 13. (Received Sept. 13, at 5.5 p.m.)^ Sir Charles Kingston! Smith arrived on board a Dutch air liner. He will, go to Amsterdam to-morrow, and thence to London to secure delivery of a machine for a solo flight to Australia. PILOT DIES FROM INJURIES. MOSCOW, September 12. Lewoniewski died from his injuries. FLIGHT BY FRENCH MINISTER. NO POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE. PARIS, September 13. (Received Sept. 14, at 1.15 a.m.) The flight to Russia by the Minister for Air (M. Cots) is officially described as the inauguration of reciprocal studies of aviation between France and Russia. It has no political object but is being made solely to enable members of French and Russian aviation forces to know each other. French air lines hitherto stopped at the Russian or Rumanian frontier, and that state of things could not last without prejudicing France and Russia. A previous message read as follows: The Paris correspondent of the NewsChronicle reports that a flight by the French Air Minister with experts to Russia is regarded as having much significance. It has been suggested that there should be a regrouping of nations to meet the Hitlerite menace. Russia possesses a great air force, and, with France on the other side, such a step would mean simultaneous reprisals m the event of German aggression. This has been the dread of every German strategist.
