The Empire Theatre was adapted for the purpose, and the occasion was marked by an exhibition carried out in excellent taste and refinement. The frocks, as shown from left to right, are as follows: —(1) Evening gown in cherry and white craquel crepe, with swathed bodice and fully flared skirt. (2) Elegant gown in royal blue satin ornamented at hip with silver bugle trimming. (3) Cherry elephant crepe gown with wide shoulder cape. Parchment roses adorn the corsage. (4) A very striking gown, featuring the new two-tone effect. Skirt black ring velvet, long bodice of rose patterned green and beige velvet. (5) Empire evening gown in heavy cream elephant crepe: Vandyke, top inset of black ring velvet strikingly trimmed with porcelain beads. (7) Bridal gown of shimmering satin, tightly moulding bodice intricately embroidered in silver, with billowy tulle skirt. (6 and 8) Sand crepe is the material used for the bridesmaids’ frocks. Cut on classical lines with glittering epaulettes, they are an inspiration in turquoise (8) and blush rose (6). —P.B.A.
