MOTOR CAR WITH COFFIN
t When a resident of Layer de la Haye, Essex, was summoned lately at Bromley for exceeding the speed limit of 30 miles an hour with a motor vehicle, it was stated that the car was a private one, which had been adapted, and had a bieron which was a coffin. Defending counsel said there was no actual mention of the word “ hearse ” in the Road Traffic Act. Apart from the presence of a coffin this was a private car, capable of going at any speed consistent with safety. Defendant had been told by the police that. there was no •speed limit for such a vehicle. A fine of £1 was imposed.
