CLOSING RUSH IN CHRISTCHURCH (Peb United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 12. There was a last-minute rush of applicants to-day for the building subsidy. Included was an application for a job worth £25,000 for Winter Show purposes, and another worth £50,000, the purpose of which has not been disclosed. To-day the applications numbered 272 and yesterday 241. The value represented was £160,880, with a wages cost of £63,335. The total in'Christchurch to date is 1242 applications, valued at £718,416, with a wages cost of £252,262. The approvals numbered 460 and the refusals 35.
