AN AMAZING ESCAPE SCHNEIDER CUP PILOT. LONDON, September 11. (Received Sept. 12, at 8 p.m.) The Daily Mail says that the Schneider Cup pilot, Flight-lieutenant Stanisland, had an amazing escape when a secret new machine got out of control. He jumped with his parachute, but was thrown back into the cockpit by a rush of wind. The machine dived a further 700 feet and Stanisland jumped again, landing unhurt. The plane pancaked to earth two miles away and was wrecked. MR ULM’S FLIGHT. REPORT ON TAKING-OFF GROUND LONDON, September 11. Mr C. P. Ulm will remain in London pending Taylor’s report on the condition of Port Marnock sands and whether they arc suitable for a take-off for the heavily laden Faith in Australia.
