ATTACKED BY BULL
TWO FARMERS INJURED BOTH REMOVED TO HOSPITAL. (Per United Press Association.) BLENHEIM, September 12. Through being gored by a bull to-day, two well-known settlers in the Tunakino Valley, in the Rai district, were conveyed to the Nelson Hospital suffering from extensive wounds. The victims are Len Neal and Don Wratt, and the accidents occurred on Mr Neal’s property. The first accident happened when Mr Neal was attempting to shift a bull from a paddock near his residence, the animal attacking him and tossing him 12 feet in the air. His side was badly lacerated and a wound was inflicted in oue leg. Mr Neal managed to get through a fence out| of the enraged animal’s reach. He received medical assistance from the district nurse, and was later taken to Nellome time afterwards several neighbours, including Mr Wratt, endeavoured to remove the bull from the paddock, but the vicious animal charged Mr Wratt, who was armed with a pitchfork. The handle broke and Mr Wratt was left defenceless. He received an ugly wound in the chest and other wounds in his side.He also was taken to hospital at Nelson. It is believed that Mr Neal, the owner of the property on which the accidents happened, is progressing satisfactorily, but that Mr Wratt’s injuries are more serious.
