THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP YOUNG PROFESSIONAL LEADS. MELBOURNE, September 8. (Received Sept. 8, at 11.30 p.m.) M. Kelly, a young New South Wales professional, played brilliantly in the second round of the Open Championship to retain a lead of three strokes on the field. Jackson and E. Noismith made good recoveries, as did Whitton and Ferrier. The weather was dull and rainy. Following are the scores: —Kelly 149; E. Naiemith (Victoria), A. W. Jackson Victoria) 152; I. Whitton (Victoria), J. Ferrier (New South Wales) 153; W. M'Kenzie (New South Wales) 154; W. Harvey (New South Wales), W. Edgar (Victoria), W. Clifford (Victoria), H. Hattersley (New South Wales), H. Boorer (Victoria), F. Eyre (New South Wales), A. Spence (Victoria) 155. The New Zealand ladies are delighted with Miss Kay’s victory.
