After a mild day, with considerable sunshine, rain began to fall this evening. A light northerly wind! is blowing. CHRISTCHURCH, August 24. The weather to-day was dull, with a light shower late in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 53.4. , The barometer fell from 29.73 in to 29.62 in.
