Mrs Helen Wills-Moody (captain) decided not to play in to-day’s Wightman Cup matches because of a hack injury. Miss Sarah Palfrey replaced her in the singles. Mrs Moody will act as a nonplaying captain in to-day matches. She hopes to he back in action to-morrow. A decision is to he made after a further examination by her physician. The injury is an old one, and has been aggravated by practice in the last few days. UNITED STATES WINS THE CUP. NEW YORK, August 5. (Received August 6, at 7 p.m.) At Forest Hills Miss Palfrey and Miss Jacobs defeated Miss Round and Miss Healey, 6 —4, 6—2; Miss Betty Nutliall defeated Carolin Babcock, I—6, 6 —l, g 3 ; Miss Round defeated Miss Palfrey, *6—4, 10 —8; Miss Jacobs defeated Miss Scriven, 5 —7, 6—2, 7—5; Miss Nuthall and Miss James defeated Miss Marble and Mrs Van Ryu, 7—5, 6—2. The United States won the Cup.
