Order “ Iluia,” the butter that is made from the finest Otago cream. —Advt Since 1895 Carlyle’s house in Cheyne row, Chelsea, has been a Carlyle museum, i It is now in need of financial assistance j jf the existing annual deficit on its runj n iug expenses is to be met. This unsatisj factory position is due in part to the I depression in the United States. There i are as a result fewer American visitors, : though even last year over 2000 made a pilgrimage to Chelsea. A more serious : and probably a more permanent cause of impoverishment is increased running expenses. Rates are higher, wages have increased. and incidental expenses arc much heavier. This house, where Carlyle lived for nearly 50 years, remains much as it was when he described it as “ the best we have ever lived in.” Professor G. M Trevelyan has promised £2OO. if £IOOO in all can be raised. Don’t merely ask for coal—demand Kaitangata —the best. —Advt.
