>V i —. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, August 1. \ GOLF. A bogey competition was held on the Ardleigh links over the week-end. Dr Fitzgerald (5) emerged victorious, 1 up, and K. C. Nicoll (12) and R. G. Hudson (18), tied, 1 down, for second place. In the play-off Hudson beat Nicoll. In the competition for Dr Thomas's trophy, Dr Fitzgerald. beat Nicoll, 2 up, Nicoll beat Thomson 5 and 4,.and G. Hudson 3 and 2. R. Hudson beat N. M. Matheson 4 and 3. G. B. Smith beat A. Cochrane, R. G. Hudson beat A. Cochrane, and Spence beat G. Hudson. RUGBY FOOTBALL. The following will represent Eastern District Northern Schoolboys v. Eastern District Southern Schoolboys, at Waikouaiti on Saturday, at 11 a.m.:—Backs — Pope, Hudson, G. Gunn, Roberts, D. Gunn (Palmerston), H. Murcott, F. Murcott (Hampden), Barber, Penny (Shag Point); forwards—Whittleston, M'Gregor, Burrow, Cameron, Thomas, Parkhill (Palmerston), Frater, Glover, Miller, Hewitt (Dunback). Mr M. C. Wilkinson will referee *the game.
