(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIKOUAITI, July 29. YOUNG PEOPLE’S OWN. Mr W. Lee, a member of the Dairy Board, was the speaker at Wednesday’s meeting of the Young People’s Own, and took as his subject, Freer Trade with took as his subject, “ Freer Trade with Britain as against Submission to a Quota.” Many questions were put to the speaker at the close of his address, and a very hearty vote of thanks wan passed to him. Mr John Hallum was chairman of tho meeting. SALE OF WORK. The Methodist Church’s annual sale of work was held on Friday. Tho various' stalls were very effectively arranged, and as there was a large attendance of the buying public almost a total clearance of goods was effected, .resulting in over £3O, being added to the church funds. The following were the stallholders: —Sewing, Mesdames Hunt, Townsend, and Thomas; produce — Mesdames Stringer and Henderson, and Misses J. and F. Smith; sweets —Misses T. Townsend, H. and I . Halfka; fruit salad —Misses Vanes and J. Tounsend; tea rooms—Mesdames Cleave, Halfka, and Slannery, and Miss B. Williamson; bran tub, Mrs Palmer; nail driving, Messrs M. Tennet and W. Turnbull; shooting gallery, Messrs G, Henderson and T. Aicheson.
