THE QUEEN CARNIVAL

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Recently a deputation from outlying districts waited on the Minister of Employment for the purpose of getting equal rights with the city in the matter of. the stand down week, etc. A Queen Carnival is now afoot for the relief of distress in the city, and on inquiry I find that the money raised thereby is for the city only. Doubtless many of the residents of Port Chalmers, West Harbour, Green Island, and Mosgiel will be called upon to contribute, especially those whose daily vocation calls them to the city. I would remind these residents that there is undoubted distress in their own districts, and I am quite sure that any moneys received by the respective mayors would he thankfully received and faithfully applied.— I am, etc., Suburban Resident.
