PROBLEM OF DISTRIBUTION ; SPECIAL COUNCIL PROPOSED' (Per United Press Association.) - ■ v ; -' \ AUCKLAND, July W The committee of investigation into; the milk trade'presented its report, to' - the Mayor (Mr G. W. Hutchison) to-day. It was unanimously of the'opinion .that the industry was in urgent’ need hf i re- ; organisation,, which rould .be done only,; by means of a properly constituted'milk council,, which must have some statutory authority. ’■ ' ■■■'.. - _ The committee, says; inter alii, that' the present conditions’ of the trade are -y chaotic, and\ there is extreme danger that the quality of the. supply will de? terioratc, and the quantity will : be curtailed. The producers are living on capital or credit, although • they work from 80 to 90 hours weekly. The committee feels that the public conscience must be against a continuation of such conditions. ■ ; ’ The present plants for distribution arc more than adequate, but if a. milk' councihwere set up a considerable-eav-- ■ ing in handling, delivery, and overhead costs could be made, ■ , ■ . ; , -"
