HIGH QUALITY IN AUSTRALIA $ MR SLOAN MORPETH’S VIEWS. MELBOURNE, July 1. According to Mr Sloan Morpeth, secretary of the Australian Golf Union, Australia’s leading amateur golf players could more than hold their own with any of the present British amateurs. This statement arose out of a proposal to invite a team of British amateurs to Australia for the Melbourne centenary celebration. He added that he was convinced that British golfers did not realise the high quality of amateur golf in this country.
