(Feom Odb Own Correspondent.) INVERCARGILL, July 1. Oat*,—There ha* been little movement in this market for some time, and quotations are consequently nominal. Sellers idea* of values for A grade bartons are 2*sd, and B’ B 2sld f.0.b., s.i., Bluff. Offers from growers have of late been few and far between, and nothing of any considerable quantity can. be expected now tor nme time, as the mills will shortly be pulling in for the winter, if that has not already been done. . ~ Ryegrass. —This market has somewhat appreciated and sales have been, made up to as high as 3s per bushel for machinedressed seed in excess of 301 b weight, 27/281b seed 2s Bd. Much depends, however, on the appearance of the seed and germination. It is not anticipated tha. anv considerable business can take place until fresh operations reopen in the spring. Both in oats and ryegrass there is evidence of considerable quantities being held in stack by growers. Crested Dogstail—Owing to reports on the Irish crops and impossibility of any ■business with overseas, this market has • sagged somewhat during the last fortnight. A feature of the live stock market during the past week was the large offering of fat lambs at Loine▼ille sale, the number offered, approximately 12,000 lambs, being a record tor the yards. Values from the opening showed a sharp advance on the previous week, competition between 'local buyers 'and a representative of a Canterbury exporter being very keen, and prices may be quoted at from 5s to 6s higher than the previous week. , The yarding of fat sheep was a representative one, and values showed a slight advance on our previous 0 sale, speculators and graziers securing the bulk of the yarding. Fat cattle are coming forward in numbers just sufficient for local requirements, the quality of the bulk offering showing, the effects of the cold, wintry weather. Values are firm for well-finished animals. _ The store sheep market is quiet, with very few lines offering. There is inquiry for breeding ewes and ewe lambs, teeci being fairly plentiful. IMPERIAL COMMUNICATIONS. The accounts of Imperial and International Communications, Ltd., for 1932 show a net profit of £80,359, compared with £75,535 earned in 1931. The gros revenue was £4,946,804, compared with £4,979,023 for the previous year. The dividend is unchanged at i per cent. The company was formed in 1928 to take-over the communications assets of the Eastern and Eastern Extension Telegraph Companies, and the cable and wireless systems operated by the Pacific Cable Board, Marconi’s Wireless Telegraph Company, and other companies operating services to the East and to Australia. Cables and Wireless, Ltd., the company holding shares in 23 subsidiary and associated companies operating^communication services, showed net profits of £649,220 for 1932, derived from dividends paid by its subsidiaries, Eastern Telegraph Company, Eastern Extension, Australia, and China Telegraph Company, Ltd., Western Telegraph Company, Ltd., and Marconi’s Wireless Telegraph Company, Ltd. In the previous year profits of £636,168 were earned. A final dividend of 2j per cent, on cumulative preference stock has been declared,' which requires all but £75,450 of profits undivided. Capital of the coiVipany is £52,678,533. There is £576,986 owing to creditors. Assets include shares in subsidiaries £52,736,731, debtors £545,041, and formation expenses £525,000. An aggregate balance sheet of Cables and Wireless, Ltd., and its subsidiaries shows total assets of £63,354,085, and includes £15,911,648 in Government and other securities.
