STUD SHEEP SALES. BIDDING DISAPPOINTING. SYDNEY, June 26. (Received June 26, at 11 p.m.) The annual stud sheep sale's opened to-day before a large attendance. Considerable interest was shown owing to the higher wool values, but bidding generally was disappointing. Taking into account the recent drought and other uncertain factors, the prices realised are regarded as fair, but as the sales progress a hardening tendency is inevitable. Merino rams in some instances sold well. For instance, four special stud rams from Trangie, New South Wales, made £lO7l, averaging £267 9s. Thirty-six selected rams in pairs, sold on behalf of Donald Grant, Ltd., made £378, averaging 10 guineas. Fifty selected flock rams in fives made £241 10s, an average of £4 16s 9d. A SOLICITOR SENTENCED. THREE YEARS' IMPRISONMENT. SYDNEY, June 26. (Rceived June 26, at 10 p.m.) Harry Allison Green, aged 33, a wellknown solicitor, was sentenced to imprisonment for three years for misappropriation of £B9l of his clients' money. THE BONDI MURDER. INQUEST ON THE VICTIM. SYDNEY, June 26. (Received June 27, at 0.30 a.m.) Considerable interest is being taken in the inquest on the death of John Rowland, who was shot dead by motor bandits when he was returning from a Masonic meeting on May 15. The detectives were set a most difficult task as nobody saw the occurrence, though cries of distress were heard at midnight at Bondi near the victim's home. The recovery of a revolver, however, gave the police their first clue, and later two men were arrested under sensational circumstances when speeding on the Parramatta road, the police car finally overtaking them. Evidence was heard before the coroner to-day, when Claude Wallace, aged 24, and Eric Newlyn, aged 26, were charged with the murder of Rowland. Detective M'Rae produced a statement in which. Wallace admitted having shot Rowland, who refused to hand over his money, told him to go to the devil, and attacked him with a suitcase. Wallace said he did not intend to shoot, but inadvertently presed the trigger, not being aware that the safety catch was released. He declared that Newlyn was not connected with the shooting and remained at the wheel of the car the whole time. The inquiry was adjourned till Wed nesday.
