A**medal match was played on Saturday in cool, fine weather. The best cards returned were those of N. M, Matheeon, 97—25—72: E.jL. Fitzgerald, 81— 8—73: and T. T. Thomas, V'4—30—74.In the third round of the club championship N. Matheson defeated T. Thomas, 3 and 1: G. Hudson defeated W. Spence, 6 and 4: and G. Thomson defeated C. Olsen, two up. Six members of Ardleigh visited Waikouaiti over tho week-end, winning by ouc match on the day's play. The scores areas follow (Ardleigli names first):—Morning round—Willoughby and Fitzgerald defeated Aitcheson and Heckler. 5 and * i ; G. Hudson and Spence lost to. de Latour and Brown, two down; Cochrane and'Smith lost to Orbell and Nimmo, 4 and 2. Afternoon round—Fitzgerald and Willoughby v, Aitcheson and Nimmo ended all square; Hudson and Spence defeated de Latour and Brown. 3 and 2; Smith and Cochrane defeated Orbell . tnd Heckler, one up. These positions will not be altered during the next two weeks, as the match against Maniototo and the trial for this game intervene.
The Palmerston junior team leads the competition* in that grade with/ 12 flag points, Waitati is next with 10 points, Waikouaiti third with 9 points, and Merton last with one point. This competition willalso be suspended for two weeks for the county game and trial. / GUN CLUB. The Palmerston Gun Club's annual shoot for the Roberts Cup took place on Saturday afternoon, in very cold weather. It was a 15-bird match, and there were nine competitors. H. Ross (llvds), D. Ross (11yds), J. Niehol (11yds), and E.-J. Kelly (18yds) all broke 14 birds; Joe Roy (15yds) and J. R. Roy (20yds) each broke 13; F. W. Robinson (11yds) 12. Those who. tied fired at three more birds, H. Ross missing one and D. Ross two; J. Niehol then broke two more, and E. J. Kelly one bird. The president (D. Ross) then presented the cup to J. Niehol.
