CONSUMERS. The attention of water consumers is directed to the fact that many cases of leakage from water fittings in consumers premises are being reported to the Council. It is an offence against Section 465 of the Dunedin City By-law No. 1 to permit water to run to waste through defective fittings, and inspections are now proceeding with a view to detecting such breaches. •In the majority of cases leakages are due to defective washers, which the Council is prepared to renew, without charge, and consumers are therefore enjoined promptly to notify the Department (Telephone No. 11-839) in the event of any wastage of water arising due to leakages in order that such wastage may be obviated without delay.
