Allegations that the New Zealand Goveminent with other GovernmeDts of the Empire had been accepting grants for research work from the Empire Marketing Board without fulfilling the conditions under which the grants were made were reported to the committee of the Canteibury Agricultural and Pastoral Association to-day bv Professor R. E. Alexander. It was stated that the Government bad accepted grants from the board on condition that they would be subsidised in New Zealand and the Government bad failed properly to fulfil this condition. The meeting carried the following resolution:—“ That the Government be asked to use every effort to retain the grants from the Empire Marketing Board by Subsidising the amount spent in the Dominion on agricultural research according to the conditions laid down by the board"
