MAORI MISSION PARTY. .The Anglican Maori Mission party, under the direction of Te Ari Pitama, conducted the service at St. Marys Church last evening, when a full congregation was present. Opportunity was also taken to conduct the. “ churching of the new Mayor (Mr W. B. Galloway) and councillors. -i . ardleigh golf club. Friendly matches of nine and eighteen holes were played with members of the Oamaru Golf Club over the week-end. The following are the results (Palmerston names and nine-hole score first): Or Fitzgerald and G. Hudson lost to Cuthbertson and Scott, 2 and 1 and 2 and 1; Morrison and Olsen beat Humphries and Hedges, all square, and 5 up; R. Hudson and Willoughby v. Graves and M'Dowell, both matches all square; Matbeson and Cochrane beat .Hardwood and Elvidge, 1 up and 7 up; Spence and Thomson lost to Mailey and Wilson, 2 1 down and 3 and 1. Oamaru won the day’s play by one match. ~ Dr Fitzgerald beat H. North in the first round of the club championships,. ,9 up and 7 to play. In the second round the Rev. C. M. Newton, has been beaten by G. Hudson. , 1 MINISTERS’ ASSOCIATION^ The monthly, meeting ; of the Palmerston Ministers' . Association was held this afternoon, the Rev. C, Melville'Newton occupying the chair. After the usual business had been concluded, the president (the Rev. C. M. Newton) gave, a very interesting paper on "A Christian’s Criticism of the Churches.” The meeting closed-with a vote of thanks to the speaker.
