ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Football Association was held last evening, the chairman (Mr J. Simpson) presiding. Messrs R. Jack, an ex-Otago representative goalkeeper, and E. Taylor, an exOtago and New Zealand'full-back,'were cordially welcomed to the meeting by the chairman. A vote of condolence was passed with Mr Oscar Balk, in the death of his wife, and the secretary was instructed to forward a letter of sympathy from the association.

OTAGO TEAM CONGRATULATED. Congratulations were extended to the members of the Otago team on retaining the F.A. Trophy, the chairman stating that the Wellington team were serious contenders and it was verj' pleasing that our players turned out victors. Messrs J. B. M'Callum, an ex-chairman of the committee, and Colin Aitchison, of Riverton, an ex-member of the committee, also conveyed their congratulations to the team.

On the motion of the chairman votes of thanks were passed to Mr M. G l . MTnnes, who undertook the broadcast of the match, to Mr A. Sharpe, manager of the team, and to all the members of the committee who assisted to make the venture a success.

The treasurer (Mr A. W. Sinclair) submitted the balance sheet of the fixture, which showed the gate receipts to be £142 4s fid, the expenses (including the travelling and accommodation charges for the Wellington team) £126 6s Id, leaving a profit of £ls 18s sd. The chairman remarked that taking everything into consideration he thought the financial statement was very satisfactory and the secretary was thanked for the manner in which he had organised the arrangements for the game. CANTERBURY’S CHALLENGE. The chairman intimated that a formal challenge for an F.A. Trophy match had been received from Canterbury and it was decided to suggest Saturday, June 24, as a tentative date, the Finance Committee again to have control of the arrangements. The following players were selected to represent Otago, and it was decided that all players must attend training on Wednesday evenings at 7.30 p.m. at the Caledonian Ground. Mr A. Sharpe was again appointed manager of the team: —Goal, M'Dougall; full-backs, L. Coats (captain), H. Cope; halves —S. Duncan, A. ,Perry, M. Baillie: forwards —A. Gorrie, J. Witch all, W. Hooper, T. M'Cormack, C. Skinner. Emergencies: Full-back, G. Sutherland: half-back, A. Sutherland; forward, A. Davidson. Mr N. Kcach, of the Tramways Club, wrote suggesting that the Southland Association might be asked to send a team to play a junior representative side as a cur-tain-raiser to the next trophy game, and it was decided to write to the Southland body asking if this arrangement would be convenient. In the meantime, Messrs N. Keach, J. Rigby, and J. W. Patton were appointed to select the junior.representative team. DRAW FOR SATURDAY.
