TAIERI MOUTH AFFAIRS

DOMAIN BOARD’S MEETING A meeting of the Taieri Mouth Domain Board was held at Milton on Tuesday, and was attended by Messrs W. R. Brugh (chairman), H. M. Driver, P. J. Priest, W. Moore, jun., J, Joseph, and G. H. Thomson. Mr J. P. Walls, who had acted as clerk for a number of years, resigned his position owing to pressure of business.—The resignation was accepted with regret, Mr Walls to be thanked for his services. Mr Priest was appointed to till the vacancy. Correspondence was received from th=* commissioner of Crown lands advising that a notice appeared in the Gazette, December 1, 1932, permanently reserving for recreation purposes section 13, block IV, town of Hull, area 1 acre.—Noted, As the leases of the two tenants of the board would expire in November next it was resolved that the tenancies be renewed on the same terms as with the Land Board.

Th' question of insuring the board’s buildings at Taieri Mouth was brought up by Mr Joseph, and it was decided to insure the shelter shed and bathing boxes. Mr Thomson said he thought that something should be done with the old boarding house site, which was uow under the control of the board. He would move that steps be taken to have the site cleaned up. He suggested that this might be done under the No. 5 unemployment scheme.—lt was agreed to leave the matter in the hands of Mr Joseph and the county inspector.
