PALMERSTON NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, June 8. HOSPITAL COMMITTEE. The Palmerston Hospital Committee met last night with Mr H. S. Sheat in the chair. The following were reappointed to the committee by the Otago Hospital Board: —Chairman of the board (Mr W. E. S. Knight), Mr H. S. Sheaf. Co-optative members: Mesdames R. Cowan, H. Forrest, F. 0. A. Galloway and E. M'Kenney, Miss M. M'Ritchie, and Messrs W. C. Arkle, W. B. Galloway, Charles W. Hallum, J. Preston, and G. Ross. The report of the nurse was received and approved. In February six patients had been admitted and three discharged; in March six admitted and nine discharged; in April five admitted and five discharged; in May five admitted and four discharged. One patient now remained in the hospital. Mrs Forrest and Mr Arkle were appointed a Visiting Committee for the ensuing month. Donations of apples, turnips and cot counterpanes were acknowledged. LANTERN LECTURE. A lantern lecture was.presented in the Clark Hall last night by Mis& H. E. Fountain, secretary for New Zealand of the Zenana Bible and Medical Mission. The speaker recently returned from India, and took that country as the subject ;of her lecture. Interesting and typical sights were shown, as well as illustrations of the work of the society, the lecture as a whole proving very instructive. PERSONAL. At the monthly meeting of the Anglican Women’s Auxiliary held yesterday, a motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mrs Ellen Pickett.
