BRADMAN IN NEW ROLE

ON THE BOWLING GREEN. Don Bradman appeared in a new role at the Victoria Park bowling green in Sydney the other day—as a bowler. Not in the cricket sense, however. He was a member of a Commercial Travellers’ team which played “ The Knuts ” at bowls. His presence attracted many visitors, including, apparently,, all the children of the neighbourhood, some with autograph albums. When in England with the Australian eleven Bradman, at Bradford, scored only a single, and to pass the time, while Bradman’s companions were battjng, Wilfred Rhodes initiated him into the intricacies of bowls. Evidently the pupil was apt, as he was discovered in his match in Sydney to be possessed of an easy style, with a nice command of length and line. He played many firstclass shots.
