TRADE VESSEL

AUSTRALIAN ENTERPRISE INTEREST IN BATAVIA. BATAVIA, May 5. Great interest was manifested in the trade ship from Australia which arrived at Batavia to-day. A formal welcome by Government officials and leading business men was followed by visits from hundreds of the public.

During the morning Messrs S. Anderson (leader) and Tonkin' (Commonwealth representative) visited the Governor-General, and presented an official message from the Governor-Gene-ral of Australia, Sir Isaac Isaacs. In the afternoon more than 600 guests inspected the exhibits. There are many head offices of commercial firms here which may make decisions regarding new orders and agencies.

Satisfactory inquiries have come for dried fruits, which apparently can compete in price with those from California.
