(Fbom Our Own Correspondent.) LAWRENCE, May 11./ The ceremony of installing the newMayor and councillors took place last night. Cr Smyth, who inducted the Mayor (Mr J. K. Simpson) into the mayoral chair, congratulated him on his re-elec-tion to the important position, and expressed the hope that he would have a, pleasant time during his occupancy of th» chair. Mr Simpson suitably responded, and thanked the councillors for their loyal support in the past. The following committees were appointed:—Works—Cra Smyth (chairman), Martin, and Talboys; Water—Crs Talboys (chairman), Martin, and Smyth; Finance and Town Crs Martin (chairman), Smyth, and. Batchelor; Cemetery and M'BJ'nlav (chairman), Suters, and Batchelor; Lighting—Crs Batchelor (chairman),:, Suters, and M'Kinlay; Sanitation—Crs Suters (chairman), M'Kinlay, and Batchelor. Cr G. R. Talboys was appointed Deputy Mayor. A resolution was passed that a minute, of appreciation of ex-Cr Arthur's services as a member of the council for 25 years and Deputy Mayor for 10 years should be recorded.'
