MOTOR ASSOCIATIONS

ALTERATION OF NAMES AUCKLAND'S ACTION DISAPPROVED. (Per United Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, May 8. The Southland Motor Association tonight decided to support the action of the South Island Motor Union in cooperating with the North Island Union for the purpose of taking action to prevent an alteration of an association's or club's name without the authority of the unions. The resolution followed a discussion on the decision of the Auckland Automobile Association to change its name 'to __," Automobile . Association Incorporated." The president (Mr D. J. Wesney) said he was in favour of supporting the Christchurch motorists who had formed a New Zealand Automobile Association. He added that the action of the Auckland body seemed to be a very highhanded one. Dr Stanley Brown said he considered that the North Island Union had also acted in a high-handed way in demanding an explanation from the Auckland body.
