MINING AT MURCHISON
UNEMPLOYED APPLICANTS il'EB Unitep I’kicks ASSOCIATION. I MURCHISON, April 29. At a meeting of the Murchison County Mining Executive, the local certifying officer reported that a large number of unemployed men recently arrived in Murchison district under the impression that they could immediately be placed on mining claims. Since the recent inception of the Unemployment Board’s mining scheme, 30 men had been placed on special areas, and it would be necessary for the executive in future to deal with all applications strictly in order of date. Some delay therefore must be anticipated before late arrivals could bo satisfactorily placed. The executive advises, in a general way, that, owing to the probable severity of winter conditions in Murchison County this season, it would not ho wise for any one to take up claims in the district unless fully equipped to endure the climatic conditions.
