THE HOSPITAL BOARD ELECTION
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —In reply to letters expressing surprise that the name of Mr J. W. Scurr was not included in the citizen s ticket for the Hospital Board. permit us to state that the only reason is that Mr Scurr has always desired to be treated as an independent candidate, and has neither asked to be included in the citizens' ticket nor given any support to it. — We are, etc., DUNEDIN ELECTORAL ASSOCIATION. " Dunedin. April 29. TO THE EDITOR. Si* —Mr J. W. Scurr in a letter ■writes: " The Citizens' League, I understand, is composed of about six self-ap-pointed persons who have done no more for the city than make a good living for themselves." The Labour Party has been saying this for years, and said it when Mr Scurr's name was on the citizens ticket. Evidently Mr Scurr has lost favour with these six persons, but as they are only six, why should he niind? In conversation with a nominee of the Citizens' League during the week, he informed me that he was nominated by-the league, or at leaßt his name was on the ticket without his sanction —and in fact he did not know one person who was a member of the league.-—I am, etc, W. W. Batchelor. i Trades Hall, April 30. TO THE EDITOR. Sa,—One would like to congratulate Mr Scurr on his statement about the citizens' ticket. He has, however, taken a number of yearg to find out that those on the citizens' ticket chose themselves. Surely he knew this before, as he has ■toad on' the citizens' ticket on a number of occasions.—l am, etc., , BRYAIf O'DOITNEIX.
