BALCLUTHA MAYORAL ELECTION

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I hope the electors of Balclutha realise that Mr Fleming deserves thejr support at the mayoral election, as he has had a long and clean record of public service, and was asked to stand, and consented to do so, only after Mr White had told various people that he had definitely decided not to stand, Mr White, by changing his mind, as he has a habit of doing, is putting the borough to the expense of an election, and shows a lust for office that is not to his credit. What is the use of supporting a man who does not stick by his own opinion?—l am, etc., A. T. D. Other Letters to the Editor appear on page 15.
