PROVISIONAL AGREEMENT RATIFIED BY BOTH GOVERNMENTS . (Peb United Pbess Association.) WELLINGTON, April 28. “ Cabinet lias had under consideration the provisional agreement entered into on April 6 with Senator Massey Greene and lias extended its congratulations to Mr Coates and Mr Masters, who negotiated the agreement with the Australian delegation,” said the Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes) this evening. “It is believed that the discussions and the agreement reached will have the effect of removing many misunderstandings,” he continued, “ and of improving trade between the two countries to the mutual benefit of both. The provisional agreement has been approved by the Governments, but cannot be brought into force until it has been ratified by both Parliaments. As the New Zealand Parliament will not meet for some morfths trade between the two countries must in the meantime be carried on subject to the existing agreement. Negotiations are being continued respecting certain questions, including the embargoes on potatoes and fresh fruit in Australia and New Zealand respectively.”
