DOCTORS AT WEDDING

Three doctors stood near a bride who was married at Christ Church, Westminster. She was suffering from influenza, and special precautions had to be taken in case she collapsed at the A lectern was placed for her to lean against when kneeling down; a chair was brought so that she could sit down during the service if necessary, and a glass of water and restoratives were at hand. The bride was Miss Phyllida Jordan, the 25-year-old daughter of a Birmingham doctor —Dr Jordan, of Edgbaston—and the bridegroom was Mr Arthur Dyson, of Rotherham. Dr Jordan gave his daughter a stimulant before the service, and no restoratives were needed during the ceremony. The bride looked pale, but smiled afterwards, and attended the reception at an hotel. The honeymoon, however, was cancelled. An official of the church said: “ She was the bravest bride I have seen for years. She was obviously ill.”
