EFFECTS OF DROUGHT
HEAVY STOCK LOSSES FEARED FREE RAILAGE OF FEED DESIRED (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 27. Mr J. Connolly, the member for MidCanterbury, to-day telegraphed to the Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes) drawing his attention to the serious effect of the drought conditions in mid-Canter-bury, where the turnip and mangold crops arc a complete failure. He states that heavy losses will occur unless essential stock foods are forthcoming, and urges free railage on feed from southern districts.
