THE NAZIS’ LATEST

NEW EVANGELICAL CHURCH OLD TESTAMENT TO GO (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) BERLIN, April 6. (Received April 7, at 9 p.m.) The Nazis propose to create a new evangelical church demanding adherence to the following creed: “God made me a German, and Germanism is the gift of God. God wishes that I should fight for my Germanism. Military service is never a violation of Christianity but is obedient to the will of God.” The tenets of the new creed include one that all Protestants marrying members of an alien race be expelled from the church. Pastor Wiencke, one of the promoters, says: “Were Christ to appear on the earth he would be the leader of a war on Marxism and internationalism.” The abolition of the Old Testament is demanded, and the substitution of German sagas and legends in order to replace the Hebrew prophets by personages in German philosophy and art, ensuring uniformity with the national revolution. This demand has been brought to Herr Hitler’s notice by the church’s Supreme Council, with the reminder that he guaranteed the church’s independence.

DRIVE AGAINST JEWS INCIDENT IN LIECHTENSTEIN. BERLIN, April 6. Another outrage against German Jews outside German territory is reported at Gaslei, Liechtenstein. The brothers Alfred and Fritz Rotter, formerly leading theatre managers in Berlin, were walking with Alfred’s wife and Frau Wolf, when seven gunmen stopped and tried to drag them to a waiting raotoi car. Alfred and the women struggled free, and jumped down a ravine in an effort to escape. Frau Wolf was found injured. The other two were dead- In the meantime the kidnappers secured Fritz, and drove furiously towards the Austrian Tyrol. Fritz at Triesenberg leapt from the car and fractured his skull. The police stopped the car at Tyrol and arrested the occupants, who were lodged in gaol at Feldhirch. EXTRADITION DEMANDED v VIENNA, April 7. (Received April 7, at 11.30 p.m.) Life near the border is dangerous, says Max Reinhardt, who has decided to leave his castle at Salzburg and live here. The Government of Liechtenstein demands that Austria extradite the assailants of the Rotters. They were mostly students under 30 and were found to be in possession of a poison syringe, seven phials of chloroform, and gas pistols. They declare that they used no revolvers, but made a tear gas attack from patriotic motives. They assert that if they had succeeded they would have received a reward of £3300. A NEW PRESS LAW BERLIN, April 7. (Received April 7, at 10 p.m.) Announcing a new press law, which will be promulgated shortly, Herr Goebels, at an annual reception to German press representatives, said it would regulate the new relationship between the press and the State, and define professional standing and prerogatives of journalists. Herr Hitler declared that the highest duty of the press at present was not criticism, but the creation of unity of thought and will. POLISH PRESS ATTACKS A PROTEST LODGED.

WARSAW, April 7. (Received April 7, at 11.30 p.m.) The German Minister called at the Foreign Office and presented a Note protesting against attacks upon Herr Hitler in the Polish press. It is learned that the tone of the conversation was sharp and the subject of the treatment of Polish nationals in Germany was raised.
