The severe mental and physical anguish of a cigarette-smoker who abjured the habit for nine months is described by a contributor to the March issue of Chambers’s Journal, his advice to others who might likewise deny themselves the craving' being—don’t! This issue contains the usual typical selection of travel articles, fiction, and other features. The trials of the night-watchman at that period of hie career, hitherto undisclosed, when a parcel was thrust into his hands, and suddenly “ began to iccup like a canary," are related by W, W. Jacobs in the March issue of the btrand Magazine. Other contributors are the Rt. Hon. Winston Churchill, Gilbert Frankau, de Vere Stacpoole, and Roland P6ftw66i The March number of the New Zealand National Review, which incorporates the New Zealand Manufacturer, contains the text of a statement on tariff revision by Mr G W. Reid, in which he denies that the exchange rate increase involves a breach of the Ottawa agreements. Mr Reid observes that the/Australian rate was at 125 per cent, when the Ottawa Conference was held, but the British Government allowed Australia substantially the same preferences on farm products as New Zealand, where it was then 1.10 per cent. , .. The March number of the New Zea-land-Traveller, the organ of the United Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen’s Association, contains, in addition to the usual features, a full report or the twentieth annual conference.
