(Feom Oue Own Coekespondent.) RANFURLY, April 3. The Maniototo Lawn Tennis Sub-asso-ciation held its annual tournament on the Ranfurly courts on Friday and Saturday last. The weather was fine and the attendance -fair. The following are the results: . -p. Handicap Events.—Men’s Singles: 15. Simonsen defeated W. MacConacliic. Ladies’ Singles: Miss C. Harvey defeated Mrs Borthwick. Men’s Doubles: J. Mory gan and W. MacConachie defeated J. Stevens and S. Matheson. Ladies Doubles: Misses Morgan and M. Slater were the winners. Mixed Doubles: i. (Houston and Miss Beattie defeated L>. Simonsen and Miss MacLacblan. Open Championship Events.-—Men s Singles; S. Leask defeated R. Macphevson 7 —2. Ladies’ Singles: Miss M. Slatei defeated Miss Harley. Mens Doubles: T. Stevens and S. Matheson defeated fe. and J. Least 7—6. Ladies' Doubles r Misses Beattie and Scoullar beat Misses J. and A. Harvey 6—3. Mixed Doubles: T. Clouston and Miss Harvey defeated S Leask and Miss Scoullar 6 3. GOLF. The annual meeting of the Maniototo Golf Club was held on Thursday last. 1 lie report and balance sheet was adopted. The following office-bearers were elected; —President, Mr D. MTvillop; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs G. Gilbert and A. Spence; secretary, Mr R. Jamieson; committee—the secretary, vice-presidents, president. Father Halley and Mr C. Wilson; assistant secretary, Mr A. M Laicnlan; club captain, Mr A. MacLachlan: men’s handicappers. Father Halley and Mr East; Ladies’ Committee —Mesdamcs Gilbert. Wilson, and Gilchrist; ladies handicapper, Miss E. Hall. The opening day was fixed for April 22. PLUNKET SOCIETY. The carnival held recently in the Ranfurly Hall to raise funds for the Plunket Society was very successful, the net amount of £43 being raised. WELCOME RAIN. After a very dry week, rain commenced to fall about 2 o’clock yesterday, and fell steadily during the night.
