VITAL STATISTICS
RETURNS FOR DUNEDIN. The vital statistics for the past month show a considerable decrease in marriages compared with the total for March of last year, and a satisfactory increase in the number of births—l 37, again 99. The returns for the quarter show decreases in the number of marriages and deaths, and an increase in the number of births. The following are the returns for the month and the quarter, compared with with the figures for the corresponding periods last
WELLINGTON FIGURES. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 31. The vital statistics for the quarter are as follows:—Births 560 (503), deaths 247 (254), Marriages 328 (348); by the registrar 84 (91). The 'March births were 158 (153), deaths 88 (77), marriages 139 (150); by the registrar, 38 (30).
