NORTH-EAST HARBOUR NOTES

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The annual congregational meeting of the North-East Harbour Presbyterian Church was held on Thursday evening last. The Rev. W. W. MacArthur presided over a good attendance. After devotional exercises the report of the session was read by Mr H. Gregory, and this indicated that the various activities of the church were progressive in outlook and contributed to the spiritual welfare of the district. Appreciative references to the services of the minister (the Rev W. W. MacArthur) and of his assistant (Mr O. Bauman) were made by Mr Gregory, who indicated that an effort was being made to have a resident minister in the district. Mr J. Macandrew, secretary, submitted the report of the Deacons’ Court, which showed that while the financial position just met the needs of the congregation, increased contributions would enable the court to develop a progressive policy in fulfilling the benevolent activities of the church’s influence in the harbour. The Rev. Canon Small briefly addressed the assembly, congratulated the church on its year’s work, &nd conveyed fraternal greetings for the blessing of the Master on the church’s work for the family of mankind. The choir and several friends supplied, a programme of song and story. A bountiful supper provided by the Ladies’ Guild brought a successful evening to a close. HARVEST THANKSGIVING SERVICES. The annual report and balance sheet submitted by the secretary (Mr J. M'Pherson) exhibited a healthy state of affairs. Increased membership and the proceeds from several entertainments, be said, had_ enabled the committee to improve the links further and provide additional accommodation at the golf house. The facilities for the game were good, considering that the club had been in existence for only three years. The receipts for the year amounted to £173 and the expenditure to £l7O, of which sum over £7O had been paid in wages and had enabled the committee to assist the unemployed problem in the district. The report was adopted on the motion of Mr J. B, Deaker, who congratulated the club on the progress made, and asked for a continuance of support to the committee for the new year. The officers for the new year were elected as follows:—President, Mr S. F. Grigg; club captain, Mr A. W. Sinclair; auditor, Mr A. M’Hutchon; secretary and treasurer, Mr J.
