MOTH PLANE CRASHES
MACHINE BADLY DAMAGED PASSENGER SLIGHTLY INJURED (Per United Pres? Association.) TAUMARUNUI, March 22. Captain W. H. Lett, piloting a Moth plane, arrived from Palmerston North this afternoon to take a passenger. Mr Sutherland. who was stranded in Taumarunui, back to Palmerston North. The machine appeared to rise safely when taking off, but there was no life in the air, and the plane dropped suddenly and crashed in some trees at the western end of the racecom’se. The machine was badly damaged, and Mr Sutherland, who received slight injuries to the head, was taken to hospital. Captain Lett was uninjured.
