CRICKET
FRIENDLY GAME. A combined cricket team from the Gladstone and Metropolitan Hotels met and defeated a team from the Grand Hotel after a very exciting and enjoyable game. The Combined team compiled 147 (Jackson Q2, Gourley 16, Dawkins 27, and Lynch 10). In reply Grand Hotel scored 136 (J. Paape 30 not out, M'Neill 28, Vinecombe 23, Chettleburgh 17). Bowling for the Combined team, Cook took all 10 wickets for 48, including the hat trick. For the losers Chettleburgh (three wickets for 21 runs), M'Neill (three for 44), Vinecombe (two for 18), and Comer (two for 19) bowled well. PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ MATCHES.
