Sashwood, the dam of Chenwood, was got by Underwood from a Satinwood mare. ... Dollar King, who was in the accident in the .Cheviot Trotting Cup, broke a hind leg, and had to be destroyed. During training at Addington yesterday J. Fraser, jun., received a badlysprained arm and wrist through his horse, Neero, colliding with Novice. Rcero escaped injury. # After the running of the Spotswood Handicap at Cheviot on Saturday the stipendiary steward, Mr F. J. Beer, called for an inquiry, with the result that Amonos, who finished second, was disqualified for the race for galloping. The big five-year-old pacer, Camera, was a competitor at the Cheviot Trotting Club’s meeting, and for a novice he shaped really well. He is by Rey de Oro from Imperial Pointer, and is trained by F, Holmes. The dam of Carnera is by Logan Pointer from the onetime popular pacer, Imperial Polly. . Among those present at the Cheviot Trotting Club's meeting was the Prime Minister, Mr G. W. Forbes, who presented the Gold Cup won by Chenwood to Mr Bailey, who received the trophy on behalf of Mr G, J. Barton. Mr Forbes presented the gold whip to W. Ji : Tomkinson, the traindr, who drove the winner. Vagabond King, who won a double at the Cheviot meeting, is one of the last got by Harold Dillon. His dam, Miss Bahs, was by Wildwood Jun, from a mare by Wallace L. ... The imported horse Dnisns sired winners of three races at the Cheviot meeting He got the double winner, Ganton, and also Paul Drusus, Estella Amos, the dam of Ganton. is an imported mare by Dale Axworthy, and is also the dam of Indianapolis. , It is reported that Mr W. S. Bennett, president of the Kaikoura Trotting Club, is in Christchurch at present (says the Press) making arrangements for bis clubs postponed meeting to be held on another course than at Kaikoura. He. will approach the committee of the "New Brighton Trotting Club, which will meet this morning, and endeavour to secure the use of the suburban course for his chibs meeting. Should the New Brighton Club grant permission for the use of its course and permission for the change is forthcoming from the Trotting Conference and from the Minister of Internal Affairs, the meeting will probably he held towards the end of May. , Through an oversight on the part ot the connections of the two-year-old hlly Evie Denver, the filly was not allowed to start at the Cheviot meeting, although she was on the grounds. It is in the Rules of Trotting that a two-year-old cannot race over a distance longer than eight furlongs and a-half until April 1, so Evie Denver was debarred on that ruling. She is a fine advertisement for her sire (says the Press), Brigand, and her dam Leila Denver, and if looks count to any extent she should make a name for herself when her racing career is commenced. She is a half-sister to Gay Paree and Guv Denver, and. like those horses, was bred bv J. N. Clarke at New Brighton, but is trained by G. White for Mr A. E. Blackler. having been purchased at her breeder’s dispersal sale. ,
