Ministerial. The Minister of Mines (Mr C. E. Macmillan), who is to perform the opening ceremony of the Nokomai Gold Mining Company’s claim to-day, passed through Dunedin by the afternoon express yesterday, He is expected to return to Dunedin on Wednesday.

Mr T. W. Dobbie will leave this morning for Auckland. Mr J. S. 1 Douglas returned from Invercargill by the express yesterday morning. Mr.J. H. M'Ghie was a passenger by the second express yesterday on his return to Wellington. Mr T. C. Brash, secretary of the Dairy Control Board, left by the second express yesterday morning en route to Wellington.

Dr P. Marshall, consulting geologist to the Public Works Department, left by the second express yesterday morning on his return to Wellington. Mr D. I. M'Donald was a passenger by the through express yesterday morning en route from Invercargill to Wellington. The Eev. A. C. Wedderspoon, of Lower Waitaki, who haa retired after 43 years’ service in the Presbyterian ministry, has taken up hie residence in Highgate, Dunedin.

The Rev. H. E. Edridge, of the Otago and Southland Baptist Auxiliary, and Mr W. J. Bardsley, of the Baptist Union, left Dunedin yesterday for Owaka to assist in the Baptist Church functions held there last evening. At the annual meeting of the Trinity Methodist Church choir on Thursday evening occasion was taken to present to Mrs J. M. Orr an illuminated address,in recognition of her completing her fiftieth anniversary as a members of the choir. In making the presentation, the Rev. EL E. Bellhouse alluded to the outstanding nature of the record and to the esteem and affection in which Mrs Orr was held. Mr S. Lawn, on behalf of the choir, expressed warm appreciation of Mrs Orr s long services and admiration of her character. Mrs Orr suitably replied. Representatives of the Otago Boys’ High School and John M'Glashan College left yesterday for Oamaru to compete in the secondary schools’ sports meeting. Mr R. W. S. Botting was in charge of the High School team and Mr T. R. Buxton had charge of the M'Glashan College representatives. The members of the Southland Boys’ High School team, under the charge of Mr A. J. Deaker, were passengers by the same train.
