A consignment of live grams of radium, worth 350,000 dollars (abont £70,000), packed in 25,000 tiny platinum tubes worth 50,000 dollars, has been received by Bellevue Hospital, New York, to be used in cancer treatment. This hospital now has 10 grains of radium, twice ns much, it is said, as any other medical institution in the world. Some new sources of petrol suggested by scientists arc a certain variety of seal, the wood of plane trees, and cottonseed oil.
