NEW ZEALAND STOCKS

FINANCIAL TIMES COMMENT RECOVERY EMPHASISED (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, October 10. (Received Oct. 10, at 11 p.m.) The Financial Times emphasises the recovery of New Zealand stocks, thanks to the remedial measures adopted in the Dominion in bringing the national finances into alignment and rectifying the trade position though finality has not yet been reached. “As Mr Forbes is budgeting for a deficit, the decision to allow the country a respite from further taxation in order to encourage trade must be read in conjunction with the fact that the Government is steadily bringing the expenditure towards current income. It is not surprising to read that New Zealand will shortly take the opportunity of converting bonds issued in 1931 and costing over 6 per cent.”
