SZIGETI SEASON
The New York Times stated: —“ The following celebrities have signed contracts for next season in the United States:— Chaliapin, Galli-Gurci, Josef Szigeti, Jascha Heifetz, Tito Schipa (who rep aces the departing Gigli at the Metropolitan Opera).” Dunedin is to be fortunate enough to hear one of these artists tonight at the Town Hall, and hooking at the Bristol shows that the public is not slow to appreciate the opportunity, Ihe programme will include the great Beethoven Concerto, Szigeti’s plotting of which was culled by one of the well-known Australian .critics: “ One of the rare treats of a lifetime and a recital in itself.” Besides this there will be something for everybody on the programme. The work of young’Prince Magnloff, Szigeti’s accompanist. is said to be a feature of all Szigeti’s concerts.
