New York to Auckland the motor ship' Ardenv'ohr raced with death. One of the stewards, H. Hudson,.was stricken . with pneumonia, and lay delirious in his bunk while the' engineers were called on to get every ounce of power out of their '. motors in the- hope of reaching Auckland in time to save his life. But the Ardenvohr lost the race. When she, arrived at Auckland yesterday and berthed at the King's wharf Hudson Was rußhed- to hospital too late. Hudson was only 21 years of age, and is believed to have been single. His home was in Liverpool, and he signed on in England as a wardroom steward. .
