RETURNED SOLDIERS’ CHOIR

The outstanding item on the programme which will be presented by the Returned Soldiers’ Association Choir at ‘its concert on Wednesday will be a number of selections from “II Trovatore.” “The Magic Flute,” “Rosamund, ” and “ The Mount of Olives*" together with the stirring dramatic cantata “ Salamis,” will also be special features. The scena from “II Trovatore ” is, no doubt, the most favoured in all opera, and it includes the famous duets “Ah, I Have Sighed to Rest Me ” and “ Home to Our Mountains.” Miss Eva Scott will make a welcome reappearance in the part of Leonora, with - W. N. Satterthwaite as Manrico. Mr Charles R. Williamson, a fine' tenor from Christchurch, will be heard in that delightful aria from “ Hiawatha,” " Onaway Awake, Beloved.” Miss Eva Scott will also sing several choice selections. An instrumental quartet from the Kaikorai Band will play several numbers, and Mr Stan Jeffs will be heard in an aria, and the baritone soloist in the cantata .*>, “Salamis” will be Mr Lea Barron. Th* choir will sing several, old favourites, including “The Recruit,” with Mr George Anseil as soloist. Mr John Leech will conduct, and Mr T. Kirk-Burnnand will be the accompanist. ' :
