MATCH IN CALIFORNIA TERRIFIC HITTING. SANTA BARBARA (California), August 25. The Australians beat the Monte Cito Cricket Club of Santa Barbara at the Peabody Stadium. The local team’s 18 players batted first and were dismissed for 58 (M'Cabe none 'for 30, Ives, four for 10, Fleetwood-Smith five for 12). The Australians scored 387 for six wickets. Nutt and Kippax made a useful opening stand. Bradman scored with shots all round the wicket, his innings being of great educational value to the spectators. Tolhurst and Ives entertained the crowd with terrific hitting. Scores; Nutt 58, Kippax 54, Richardson 18, Bradman 121, M‘Cabe 15, Tolhurst 52, Ives not out 46, Carney not out 18; extras 5. HOLLYWOOD TEAM BEATEN. LOS ANGELES, August 26. (Received August 26, at 9.30 p.m.) The Australians defeated Hollywood Cricket Club by 209 for five wickets to 99 for 17 wickets (Bradman 48, M‘Cabe 66, Kippax 64). The Hollywood team included former British players who are now in the movies, including Boris Karloff, H. B. Warner, Desmond Roberts, Murray Kinnell, Claude King and Caubery Smith.
